This Pelican was inspired by two things. One since I was a young kid after watching the Australian 70's movie Storm Boy I then called all pelicans Mr Percival. Also since the new release of the movie we actually have the pelicans from the movie at the Adelaide zoo. But mostly I am inspired by my weekends and holidays down the coast. Where the river Murry meets the ocean at Goolwa. At the warf there is always some of these guys hanging around. This painting is very textural to give the feeling of feathers, sky, water and the wooden pole he rests on. Ive used silver foil through the background like the reflection of water.
